Lycianthes is a genus of flowering plants in the family Solanaceae. It contains herbs, shrubs, vines, and small treelets, with the greatest diversity in the Americas. The genus is distinguished from many related nightshades by its truncated calyx, often with appendages, and poricidal anthers.

Lycianthes is related to Capsicum and Solanum within the nightshade family. Similar-looking fruits from other Solanaceae should not be treated as interchangeable with documented edible Lycianthes fruit.
