== Fruit and uses == The fruit is a small drupe with a thin outer layer, soft mesocarp and a dark-brown, thick-walled endocarp. An anatomical study of authenticated material collected near Pallapatti in Tamil Nadu also found vascular bundles, sclereids and starch-rich cotyledons. Those observations describe the examined collection and should not be extended into universal nutritional or medicinal claims.[[#cite_note-5|[5]]] Ripe deseeded pulp has been used in dosa and juice preparation, and traditional endocarp consumption has also been recorded. Regional palatability is not uniform: one Flora treatment preserves local use alongside an older description of the fruit as insipid. The fruit is therefore best described as locally used and variable in eating quality, not as uniformly sweet or agreeable.[[#cite_note-3|[3]]][[#cite_note-5|[5]]] Traditional food use does not by itself constitute a general safety assessment.
