== Flowering, fruiting, and harvest == Bees are recorded as pollinators and the plant is self-fertile. Seedlings may flower within about two years because of their rapid growth, and air-layered plants may fruit earlier. Flowering and fruiting can continue over a long period, so harvest is usually repeated: pick berries when fully colored, sweet, and soft, before they ferment or fall. Handle ripe fruit gently because the thin skin and juicy flesh bruise readily.[[#cite_note-2|[2]]][[#cite_note-3|[3]]]
