== Flowering, fruiting, and harvest ==

Flowering and seed production are seasonal in the humid tropics, with the Indonesian production windows noted above. The plant bears one seed per fruit, and a mature tree can carry clustered fruits that progress from green to yellow, orange-red, and finally purple.
