== Flowering, fruiting, and harvest ==

The yellow flowers are hermaphroditic and appear before the rains in the compiled phenology account. Field summaries place initial fruiting at roughly three to five years, with the World Agroforestry factsheet describing few pods before three years and more prolific production at three to four years under good conditions.[[#cite_note-2|[2]]][[#cite_note-4|[4]]] Pods mature quickly, open when ripe, and contain the edible seeds.[[#cite_note-2|[2]]]

Harvest timing follows pod maturity and the local rainy-season pattern. Where the plant receives two rainy seasons, a second crop has been reported, but this should not be treated as a guaranteed bearing pattern outside a comparable climate.[[#cite_note-2|[2]]]
