== Propagation == Seed propagation can be improved by scarification. The USDA guide also reports that approximately 60 days of cold stratification at about β2.2 to 2.2 Β°C, without scarification, produced relatively good germination in the golden-currant material discussed there; treat that as source-specific propagation guidance rather than a guaranteed result for every seed lot.[[#cite_note-2|[2]]] The same guide and the Forest Service account describe propagation or vegetative spread by cuttings, suckers, rhizomes, and transplanted material.[[#cite_note-2|[2]]] Rhizomatous pieces and suckers are practical routes when a true-to-type plant is required. Transplanting is documented in the USDA guidance, but retain a substantial root system and keep the plant watered through establishment; the success of any individual transplant depends on root condition and site moisture.[[#cite_note-2|[2]]]
