== Propagation == Propagation is by seed. A species-specific germination study tested fruit and calyx maturity, temperature, substrate and light in four randomized experiments, each with four replicates of 50 seeds. In that laboratory work, yellow calyx and fruit maturity gave better physiological potential, and the germination test used seeds between paper towels at 35 °C in darkness.[[#cite_note-4|[4]]] The 35 °C result is a laboratory test condition, not a universal outdoor sowing schedule. Seeds in that study were extracted, washed, dried for 24 hours and stored at about 10 °C before testing.[[#cite_note-4|[4]]] A separate species-specific study addressed calyx maturation stage and storage method in ''Physalis angulata'' seed germination, reinforcing that both harvest maturity and storage deserve attention when seed is being saved.[[#cite_note-5|[5]]]
