Breadfruit can become partly deciduous where a distinct dry season occurs. In suitable tropical climates it may produce two crops per year, although flowering and harvest timing vary with rainfall, cultivar, and site. Reduce irrigation only in response to the plant's actual seasonal pattern; do not impose a cool-season dormancy on a tree that is actively growing, and protect it from cold events that approach the reported injury range.[[#cite_note-2|[2]]]
