== Propagation == Fresh seed may be surface-sown in a cold frame. Stored seed is treated in the horticultural guidance by soaking it in warm water for five to six days; six weeks of cold stratification is also described as potentially useful. Germination is commonly given as two to three months at about 20 Β°C, and seedlings are prone to damping off. [[#cite_note-4|[4]]] Seed pulp can inhibit germination. In a 2004 germination study, tested cold stratification, thermal shock, sulfuric scarification, simulated digestive passage, and pulp treatments did not improve germination capacity or velocity. [[#cite_note-5|[5]]] That result does not turn the secondary nursery guidance into a fixed recipe; keep seed lots and sanitation conditions separate when comparing results. Basal cuttings and mature-wood cuttings are listed as possible methods, while layering is also possible but slow or poorly successful in the cited horticultural guidance. [[#cite_note-4|[4]]] Because root disturbance is resented, minimize handling when a seedling or cutting is moved into a larger container or its final site.
