=== Seasonal changes === As a deciduous vine from a broad East Asian range, ''Actinidia arguta'' has a leafless cool season followed by spring growth and flowering. The calendar shifts with climate, so the native seasonal pattern is more useful than treating one set of months as universal.[[#cite_note-2|[2]]] Winter pruning and summer pruning are both included in cultivation guidance; use the dormant and active growth periods to keep the vine within its support and to maintain fruiting wood.[[#cite_note-3|[3]]] An Ontario grower, u/nige911, described rabbits stripping bark from some vines and wrapping the vine bases afterward. The same report mentioned a manure top-dressing in early spring. This is a localized first-hand growing observation, not a universal rabbit-control or fertility schedule.[[#cite_note-5|[5]]]
