The species is associated with both woodland and riverine woodland, as well as wooded grassland and evergreen bushland, across a broad elevation range.<sup>[[#cite_note-1|[1]]]</sup> A practical cultivation starting point is a deep, organic, well-drained medium that can be kept evenly moist without remaining stagnant. Riverine habitat alone should not be treated as proof of tolerance for permanently waterlogged roots. Occasional stilt roots are recorded, but they do not by themselves justify planting in permanently waterlogged soil.

Its evergreen habit and occurrence in coastal, evergreen and riverine woodland indicate a warm growing environment with reliable atmospheric moisture. Filtered light is a cautious starting position for young trees, with stronger exposure introduced only as the plant acclimates. Treat hardiness and full-sun performance as site questions rather than fixed species limits.

Because the tree is evergreen, it should not be managed as a predictably deciduous species. Adjust irrigation to rainfall and temperature rather than imposing a dry dormancy.
