== Cultivation == This is a wet-tropical tree of moist lowlands, and NParks records it from riverine settings up to about 1200 m. It can handle a substantial dry season when its roots have ready access to water. In cultivation, keep young trees watered and mulched while they establish, then continue to prevent prolonged root-zone drying without planting into stagnant water. [[#cite_note-3|[3]]] === Soil and water === The native setting and cultivation guidance point to moist, fertile, loamy, well-drained soil, especially near streams or ponds. Add well-rotted compost before planting; drainage remains important even where irrigation is reliable. NParks recommends regular watering, weeding, mulching, and fertilizer during the first two years, followed by compound fertilizer after harvest for fruit production. [[#cite_note-3|[3]]] === Sun and humidity === NParks lists full sun and describes the species as best in open tropical environments. Fairchild’s South Florida account likewise emphasizes humidity and fertilization for healthy growth and fruiting. Provide an open, warm site with good air movement and enough moisture to support growth, but do not treat South Florida management as a universal prescription. [[#cite_note-3|[3]]][[#cite_note-4|[4]]] === Seasonal changes === The native profile is wet tropical, but a pronounced dry period can be useful when water remains available to the roots. NParks lists flowering during the hot and dry period and reports Singapore fruiting mainly from January to March and July to September. Fairchild reports two fruiting seasons in its South Florida context, May to September and November to March. These calendars are location-specific; in cultivation, increase irrigation through dry weather while retaining drainage, and expect flowering and harvest dates to shift with climate. [[#cite_note-3|[3]]][[#cite_note-4|[4]]]
