== Cultivation ==
In its tropical-American range, ''Physalis angulata'' is associated with warm conditions, but it can tolerate light frost and grows poorly under excessive heat.<sup>[[#cite_note-2|[2]]]</sup> Moisture, drainage and exposure should therefore be balanced rather than pushed toward either persistent saturation or severe drought.

=== Soil and water ===
Use fertile soil that holds moisture while draining freely. A pot experiment kept plants for 40 days at 100%, 80%, 60%, 40% and 20% of pot field capacity; severe deficit altered water relations, carbon assimilation, stomatal conductance and transpiration.
