== Cultivation == === Soil and water === A fertile, well-drained soil is suitable, although established trees can tolerate poorer ground. A slightly acidic to neutral soil is preferred, with a reported pH range of about 5.5β7; tolerance has been reported across a wider range. The tree is drought tolerant once established, but young plants need regular moisture while roots develop. Avoid persistent stagnant water. [[#cite_note-1|[1]]] === Sun and humidity === Plant mamoncillo in full sun with enough room for its spreading crown. It is a lowland tropical tree associated with warm, humid conditions, but its occurrence in seasonally dry and coastal habitats indicates useful tolerance of dry periods and salt-laden wind. Good airflow and protection from damaging cold remain important outside the tropics. [[#cite_note-1|[1]]] === Seasonal changes === The species is adapted to warm conditions with a seasonal dry interval. Irrigation is most useful during establishment and extended drought; mature trees generally need less supplemental water once rooted. Flowering and harvest dates vary by region, and a universal calendar should not be assumed. [[#cite_note-1|[1]]]
