== Cultivation == === Soil and water === In its native range, ''Brexia madagascariensis'' occurs in coastal evergreen bushland, saline-water swamp and mangrove margins, including coral or coarse rocky ground.[[#cite_note-1|[1]]] A free-draining general potting mix is a documented nursery starting point. At Kew, plants were allowed to dry between waterings rather than kept continuously saturated.[[#cite_note-3|[3]]] Coastal and saline-edge habitat is also recorded in a practical botanical profile.[[#cite_note-4|[4]]] Regional flora data place the species at low elevations in coastal scrub, mangrove swamp and fringing forest.[[#cite_note-5|[5]]] That combination suggests maintaining reliable moisture while preventing stagnant conditions around the roots; the species' native wet coastal settings should not be treated as proof that a container mix should remain waterlogged. === Sun and humidity === The species is native to humid littoral vegetation and mangrove-edge habitats, so warm, humid air and protection from drying winds are sensible cultivation conditions. Kew maintained its accession at 18β22 Β°C and about 65% relative humidity in a general potting mix.[[#cite_note-3|[3]]] The documented nursery conditions support warm protected culture, but they do not establish a lower temperature limit or a universal light requirement. Provide bright filtered light or gentle morning sun while observing the foliage for stress as the plant acclimates. === Seasonal changes === Flowering was recorded throughout the year under Palm House conditions, with most blooms in early summer.[[#cite_note-3|[3]]] Keep the root zone evenly supplied without allowing it to stay saturated, and reduce watering only in response to slower growth or lower evaporative demand rather than imposing a fixed dry rest. Kew's accession flowered on old growth and responded to annual pruning, so major pruning is best timed after the main flush or flowering period when a compact plant is wanted.[[#cite_note-3|[3]]]
