== Description == Tapia is described as a 3β5 m tree, with records reaching 11 m. Kew describes thick bark associated with survival of fire in its native landscape.<sup>[[#cite_note-2|[2]]]</sup> The plant occurs across open highland grassland and shrubland as well as some moist evergreen forest, so a wild specimen may be encountered in more exposed or more sheltered surroundings.<sup>[[#cite_note-2|[2]]]</sup> The flowers are cream-white. The fruit is a berry about 2β3 cm across: green-yellow while developing, red at ripeness, and brown when over-ripe.<sup>[[#cite_note-2|[2]]]</sup>
