== Description == This evergreen palm forms a single substantial trunk and can become one of the largest palms in cultivation. A horticultural account gives a height of about 25 m, while a review of the species describes trees reaching 33 m and a trunk diameter of up to 2 m; these figures indicate substantial variation with age and conditions rather than a fixed mature size.[[#cite_note-3|[3]]][[#cite_note-4|[4]]] Its native distribution is in central Chile, including seasonally dry river-valley settings.[[#cite_note-2|[2]]][[#cite_note-3|[3]]] Seedling establishment has been examined in semi-arid Mediterranean habitat in central Chile. One field study used 75 seedling-performance experimental stations, providing ecological context for establishment but not a nursery propagation schedule.[[#cite_note-6|[6]]]
