== Description == Plants may reach about 4.5 m, occasionally 7.5 m, although a separate practical account describes plants to about 3 m and sometimes climbing.[[#cite_note-1|[1]]] Leaves are ovate to elliptic with fine serrations. Flowers are borne in terminal and axillary cymes of two to six flowers and may be purple, blue, mauve or pink.[[#cite_note-1|[1]]] The fruit is a small drupe-like cluster divided into one to four rounded lobes, generally about 8β15 mm across. It develops from green to orange or orange-red, with yellow or red also recorded.[[#cite_note-1|[1]]] A dated observation near Eldoret, Kenya, described a large shrub with dark-green serrate leaves and four spherical lobes that ripened orange-brown; the observation is best treated as one field example because several Grewia species occur in that region.[[#cite_note-3|[3]]]
