== Description == The plant is associated with Florida limestone coastal uplands, dry forest, scrub and dry rocky hillsides. Its wider reported range includes Florida, Mexico, Central America, Venezuela and Caribbean locations.[[#cite_note-3|[3]]] It is described as a slow-growing small shrub by one botanical-garden account, while a Florida landscape account treats it as a small tree suitable for single- or multi-trunk training. Reported size is therefore site- and treatment-dependent: approximately 15β20 ft tall and 10β15 ft wide in the Florida account, with an upper report of 8 m in a broader species compilation.[[#cite_note-4|[4]]][[#cite_note-2|[2]]] The names ''Eugenia fiscalensis'', ''Eugenia foetida'' var. ''rhombea'', ''Eugenia leptopa'' and ''Eugenia pusilana'' are recorded as synonyms. They are useful when matching older plant labels or literature, but the accepted page name is ''Eugenia rhombea''.[[#cite_note-2|[2]]]
